    Description

Presented is a neat set of 6 European silver dinner forks. These forks date to around the mid 1800s, each dated with a different year from 1844-1849. The forks are likely of German or Austrian make. The forks are done in a simple, traditional form, with a distinct upward bend to the tip of the handle. Each fork has a monogram of JH on the back of the handle, as well as a date from 1844-1849.
The forks are in great overall condition. There is some wear to the tines, particularly the 'innermost' tine, which is the furthest left tine, which would see the most wear when the fork is used by a right-handed person. There are also some knifemarks, particularly to the 'outermost' tine, the furthest right tine, again as used by a righthanded person. Otherwise there are no issues, there are no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The forks dated 1844-1846 have a maker's mark of FWK and a mark of 13 for 13 loth, indicating a silver purity of 813/1000. The remaining three forks, dated 1847-1849, have only the 13 loth mark for 813 purity silver.
There is some variation in the lengths of the forks. They range in length from about 8 1/8 to 8 3/8 inches.
The total weight for the set is 358 grams or 12.6 regular ounces.
