Original Painting & Frame Native American Artist Quincy Tahoma Indian Art 1949

Description

Original gouache & watercolor painting in it's original hand-carved Southwestern frame by the talented Native American listed artist Quincy Tahoma, (1917 - 1956).  The painting is in excellent condition, the colors rich & crisp and is signed & dated 1949.
The painting is signed in the lower right hand corner with the typical vignette or cartouche that Quincy used.  He referred to it as "the next chapter" as it depicts what would come to pass.  I purchased this painting many years ago with the original backing intact & unopened, as can be seen in the image of the back of the painting.  I have since opened the painting to photograph the art without the glass.  I replaced the original matte with new acid-free matte and placed acid free material behind the painting.  Original paintings by Quincy Tahoma do not often appear on the market, period frames such as this one are very uncommon.  The frame measures 16  3/16"  wide by  21  3/16" tall,  the image measures  10" wide by   13  1/2" tall,  I did not measure the paper itself.
